This is my first attempt at professional web design and development. My interest in this field began recently so I will be upgrading my skills gradually. I can only work on this during my spare time because I am already enrolled in a full time job which is completely unrelated to development but related to the IT field.
My main resource for XHTML/CSS learning comes from Learning Web Design: A Beginner's Guide to (X)HTML, StyleSheets, and Web Graphics and ofcourse Google. The site has been coded entirely with XHTML and CSS. There is no use of javascript since I want to keep that aside for now.
So far this site passed through several redesign processes. The logic and structuring of a website does need some getting used to.
I modified the header graphic and added the meteorite next to the planet. The stars that fill the sky where also brought in from another image. Another dark tree was cloned to give the image more life.
I have a blog at http://eliehaykal.blogspot.com where I post interesting stuff for people who enjoy technology and gaming. I also have a site where I compiled a huge list of resources which directly relate to game programming and development.
It can be found at the links section of the site.
Update: December 5, 2009 I changed the navigation bar above the header picture. I used Photoshop CS3 to create the buttons and then sliced and imported them. No rollover effects yet.
Update: Januray 10, 2010 I'm back with a new set of changes. I now have a fully animated flash header. After several trials and errors, I managed to add some clouds from an external image and embed them into the original. Animating it was straight forward in flash. Another addition is to the sidebar where I display what resources have been used to develop the site so far.The next update should feature a totally revamped navigation bar.
